Aired Monday nights from September 9 to October 7, 1974.

This series of four 30-minute programs used contemporary plays to illustrate issues about mental health. It featured actors, psychologists and sociologists who explained the significance of each scene.

The production included some of Canada’s finest actors including William Hutt, Frances Hyland, Eric House, Ted Follows, Nuala Fitzgerald and William Needles. The company performed selected scenes from My Fair Lady, The Devil’s Disciple, Saint Joan, Harvey, The Four Poster, Johnny Belinda and Anne of Green Gables. The scenes were specifically chosen to illustrate a particular mental health problem.

The panel of experts included Margery King of the Canadian Council on Children and Youth, Wally Mealeia of Dalhousie University and Rev. Andrew Hogan, sociologist. Commentary was also provided by Donald Cameron, Judy LaMarsh, Gale Garnett and Barbara Hamilton.

The shows were recorded in front of a studio audience; two in Toronto and two in Halifax. Lorraine Thomson hosted the program, which was produced by Garth Price.
