On April 24, Golden West Broadcasting Ltd. was awarded a licence for a new FM station at Weyburn. It would broadcast on a frequency of 103.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts. The format would be Rock and rock-oriented, appealing to a younger demographic. Golden West owned CFSL-AM in Weyburn, which had a Country music format.

At 7:00 a.m., September 19, CKRC-FM “Magic 103.5” signed on the air with a Classic Hits format. Studios and offices were co-located with CFSL-AM at 305 Souris Avenue in Weyburn.

2012

On August 17, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence of CKRC-FM to August 31, 2013.
