MacKenzie and Area Community Radio Society
On May 8, the CRTC approved the application by MacKenzie and Area Community Radio Society for a licence to operate an English-language Type B community FM radio programming undertaking in MacKenzie. The new station would operate at 103.5 MHz (channel 278A) with an effective radiated power of 900 watts. It would broadcast 100 hours of programming per week, including a maximum of 10 hours of news and sports programs acquired from CIRX-FM Prince George. The programming, which would include local and regional news, sports, weather, current events and emergency broadcast services, will be tailored to the needs of the MacKenzie people. The programs would target a range of listeners, from French-language and Aboriginal audiences to seniors, women, children and youth. The station would also offer a weekly program in Punjabi to target the South Asian population and broadcast College of New Caledonia course lectures. The applicant would recruit volunteers for the station through a local newspaper advertisement and public service announcements. The licence would expire on 31 August 2009.
CHMM-FM signed on the air.
On June 9, CHMM-FM had its licence administratively renewed to August 31, 2011.
On August 31, the CRTC administratively renewed the licence for CHMM-FM to December 31, 2011.
On August 28, the CRTC administratively renewed CHMM-FM's licence to December 31, 2012. On December 21, the licence was renewed to August 31, 2017.
