Battlefords Tourism and Convention Association Inc.

On June 5, the CRTC approved the application by Battlefords Tourism and Convention Association Inc. for a low-power English-language FM radio programming undertaking to provide a tourist information service. The station, which will operate on a year-round basis, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, would broadcast 10- to 15-minute regularly updated, pre-recorded announcements promoting tourist sites and services, and community events in the North Battleford area. It would operate at 100.5 MHz (channel 263LP) with an effective radiated power of 47 watts. The licence would expire 31 August 2009.

CHBT-FM signed on the air.

On November 21, the CRTC issued an exemption order for low-power radio stations that provided tourist information. It came into effect immediately. Licensees of radio stations that considered their operations to be eligible for exemption under the order could file a simple statement asking that the Commission revoke their licences.

Effective September 1st 2019, we will only be adding new material to these station histories in exceptional circumstances. Our intent to chronicle the early days of these radio and television stations has been achieved, and many new sources and technologies, from the
CRTC website to Wikipedia, and others, are now regularly providing new information in these areas.
