Radio 1540 Ltd. (Johnny Lombardi & partners) opened CHIN-FM on
100.7 MHz with 50,000 watts effective radiated power. CHIN transmits a
non-directional signal from a 310 foot tower. Studios are at 367 College
Street, in the building that houses the Lombardi family supermarket, and
CHIN-AM.
In the early 70's, Lombardi bought out his partners.
On May 31, CHIN-FM began broadcasting from the CN Tower and began broadcasting
in stereo.
In May, CHIN-AM-FM moved to a new building across the street, at 622
College Street. CHIN-FM increased power (ERP) to 8,500 watts. (CRTC approved
May 25, 1992). |
