Canadian Reflections

Debuted April 6, 1980

This half-hour program showcased a mix of independent Canadian films. The series had an irregular schedule at first, often airing twice a month but eventually moved to a weekly Sunday night timeslot. [At the time of this writing, (2006) the show was being broadcast Sunday nights at 11PM.] Some of Canada’s leading directors, including David Cronenberg and Atom Egoyan,  had their early work broadcast on the show.  The CBC described the purpose of series as ".... to showcase innovative work from the latest wave of Canadian filmmaking talent, and this can mean just about any genre, subject and production value.”
