Written by Robert Choquette, La Pension Velder was aired by Radio-Canada from 1957 to 1961. This TV soap opera told the story of the life of Joséphine Velder, a widow who had emigrated from Belgium and who ran a rooming house in her home on Sherbrooke Street in Montreal.

Ms. Velder was played by Lucie de Vienne and her best roomer (Philidor Papineau) was played by Michel Noël. At the time, Radio-Canada received letters from TV viewers who wanted to rent a room at Ms. Velder's rooming house.
