La côte de sable, by Marcel Dubé, was the first serial drama that took place outside of Quebec, and it described the trials and tribulations of a family during the Second World War.  It was first seen on SRC on November 1st 1960.

From 1960 to 1962, Radio-Canada broadcast 67 episodes of the series La côte de sable. Directed by Louis-Georges Carrier, this serial drama starred Yves Létourneau, Denise Pelletier, Roger Garceau, Benoît Girard, Clémence Desrochers and Nathalie Gascon.
