Just For Laughs Gags

Broadcast Run:
2000
Broadcast Medium:
Television

One of several series that made the jump from CTV’s Comedy Channel to the main CTV network was Just For Laughs Gags, which had two seasons on the cable channel before making the big time. Owing a little to Allan Funt’s Candid Camera concept, the Just for Laugh Gags crew played tricks on unsuspecting subjects, while hidden cameras record their responses. The tricks were perhaps more complex than the slapstick style of the Funt series, and audience response was certainly strong.

Just For Laughs Gags was produced by the Just for Laughs team in Montreal. It made its debut on the Comedy Channel in 2000, and moved over to CTV in the 2002-2003 season, playing in various prime time periods.
