Emily of New Moon

Television

46 Episodes of this one-hour series aired on Sunday nights from January 4, 1998 to January 10, 2001

This drama was based on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s books of the same name. Montgomery also wrote Anne of Green Gables, which was produced for television a few years earlier. Kevin Sullivan, who was prompted by a fan of Montgomery’s books to produce a series for television, immediately committed his company to the Emily series. Unlike Anne of Green Gables, which was shot in Uxbridge, Ontario, this series was faithful to its location: Prince Edward Island. It was one of the most successful programs on CBC.
