Big City Comedy

Broadcast Run:
1980 to 1981
Broadcast Medium:
Television

John Candy tried his hand with this half-hour comedy series after briefly leaving the SCTV crew to go it alone - or with new friends. It was produced for a year in Utah by The Osmonds, and then came to Canada for one more modest year. A mixture of major and minor US names came up to take part, including Martin Mull, Billy Crystal, Fred Willard and Maclean Stevenson.

Big City Comedy was produced in the studios of CFTO-TV Toronto. The show was seen on CTV on Fridays at 7:30 in the 1980-81 season, latterly alternating with Prime Cuts. John Candy later made a movie under the same title, which enjoyed comparable limited success.
