Big Brother Canada

Broadcast Run:
2017
Broadcast Medium:
Television

The reality game show Big Brother Canada debuted on the Slice specialty channel in 2013, and moved to the Global Network in 2015. It was based on a Dutch TV series, and a U.S. version had been airing on both CBS and Global since 2000.   The contestants competed for a $100,000 grand prize, while living in isolation from the rest of the world in a specially-built house, with the winners determined by participation in weekly games and other contests.

While Global announced in June 2017 that Big Brother Canada was being put on hiatus, there was such a public reaction to this decision that on July 20, 2017 Global announced that it had reversed that decisi0on, and that the series would in fact return for a sixth season in 2018.
