Au chenal du moine was the sequel to Le Survenant (1954), a TV soap opera written by Germaine Guèvremont. This series described the lives of the inhabitants of Chenal-du-Moine after the departure of Le Survenant. Just like the arrival of Le Survenant, his departure disrupted the lives of the Beauchemin family, particularly that of the father Didace.|

Between 1957 and 1958, Radio-Canada  aired 39 episodes of Au chenal du moine. This TV soap opera, directed by Jo Martin, notably starred Ovila Légaré, Suzanne Langlois and Clément Latour.
