1967
CFYK-TV signed on the air as the first television station in northern Canada. It was the first station to be part of the CBC's Frontier Coverage Package program. The call sign: Canada's Finest Yellowknife. The CBC also owned CFYK-AM in Yellowknife which had been on the air since 1958.
1973
CFYK-TV’s status changed from Frontier Coverage Package to a satellite fed station, with programs in colour.
1975
CFYK-TV Channel 8 received approval to increase effective radiated power from 59.5 watts to 2,400 watts (non-directional). There would also be a change of antenna site.
The CBC received approval to operate a transmitter at Rae/Edzo, using channel 10 with a power of 72 watts. It would simulcast the programs of CFYK-TV.
1976
The CBC lists the start date for CFYK-TV as August 30.
CFYK-TV-1 Rae-Edzo began broadcasting on December 20.
1993
The licence was renewed for the radiocommunication distribution undertaking consisting of CBEX-TV Aklavik, CBEHT Arviat (Eskimo Point), CBENT Cambridge Bay, CBEOT Coppermine, CBETT Fort Franklin, CBEST Fort Good Hope, CHAK-TV Inuvik, CHAK-TV-1 Fort McPherson, CBEBT-3 Fort Providence, CBEV-TV Fort Resolution, CBEGT Fort Simpson, CBEAT Fort Smith, CBEBT-1 Hay River, CBEDT Norman Wells, CFYK-TV-1 Rae/Edzo, CBEPT Tuktoyaktuk and CFYK-TV Yellowknife. The undertaking would continue to distribute the programs of the CBC Northern Television Service, Channel "C", received via satellite.
2007
The CRTC renewed the broadcasting licence for the radiocommunication distribution undertaking consisting of CBEBT-3 Fort Providence, CBEBT-1 Hay River, CHAK-TV Inuvik, CFYK-TV-1 Rae-Edzo (Behchoko) and CFYK-TV Yellowknife. This undertaking distributes, in non-encrypted mode, the programs of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Northern Television Service.
