Food Network

The CRTC licensed Food Network Canada in 2000 following the popularity of the American version of the channel which had been available in this country since 1997. The channel was owned by Alliance Atlantis Communications. The channel was launched in October of 2000 and the U.S. version was removed from the list of foreign channels eligible to be broadcast in Canada. Ownership changed a few times between Shaw Communications and Shaw controlled Corus Entertainment. The channel came back into the control of Corus in 2016. Food Network Canada became available in HD in 2011.
