CJPG-FM, Portage La Prairie, Golden West Broadcasting Ltd.



2003
On September 3, Golden West Broadcasting Ltd. was given approval to operate a new FM station at
Portage la Prairie. It would broadcast on frequency 96.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 24,000 watts. Golden West owned CFRY-AM and its transmitter CFRY-1-FM Portage la Prairie. All of the programming aired in each broadcast week would be local and station-produced. The station would be primarily music-driven and would offer an eclectic music format. The antenna for the new station would be co-located with CFRY-1-FM.

2004
CJPG-FM “Mix 96.5 FM” began testing in April and officially signed on the air at
7:15 a.m., May 4. The format was a mix of music from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. Studios and offices were at 350 River Road in Portage la Prairie.
