1999
On September 17, Riding Mountain Broadcasting Ltd. (owner of CKLQ-AM) was awarded a licence for a new FM station at Brandon, operating on a frequency of 94.7 MHz with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts. The station would offer an adult-contemporary format targeted to the 18 to 49 year age group. 

Riding Mountain Broadcasting Ltd. was owned by Wildwood Communications Ltd., Twinmon Holdings Ltd., Alrico Enterprises Ltd., Wilfy Enterprises Ltd., 69599 Manitoba Ltd. and Westman Media Co-operative Ltd.


2000
In June, CKLF-FM “Star 94.7” signed on the air with an adult contemporary format.

2003
The CRTC approved the transfer of control of Riding Mountain Broadcasting Ltd. (CKLQ and CKLF) through the purchase by Westman Media Co-operative Ltd. of all shares not currently held by Westman. Westman increased its holding in
Riding Mountain from 40% to 100%. Westman took full ownership on September 2. 

2006
On July 11 the CRTC renewed CKLF-FM's licence to August 31, 2013. 

2010
Westman Communications Group (CKLQ/Star 94.7) was awarded the Outstanding Medium Business Award from the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce at the 2010 Manitoba Business Awards. The selection committee considered the customer-owned cooperative's record in customer service, employee relationships, contributions to the communities it served and how it enhanced each of those areas.

2012
CKLQ/Star FM News Director John LoRegio stepped down after 16 years with the company. LoRegio had been in the business for 39 years. His last day was July 5.

Star FM morning show co-host Krystal Cane moved with her family to Southern Ontario. The six-year veteran's last show was July 20.
