CJFY-FM, Miramichi, Miramichi Fellowship Center, Inc.
On December 19, Miramichi Fellowship Center, Inc. was awarded a licence for a low-power specialty FM station at Blackville that would broadcast Christian music. The station would operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and would provide 90 hours per week of local programming. The new station would broadcast on a frequency of 107.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 45 watts (rather than the originally proposed 50 watts).
CJFY “Life 107.5” (The Positive Voice Of The Miramichi) signed on the air.
On August 18, CJFY-FM was authorized to add a transmitter in Miramichi, operating on a frequency of 101.1 MHz with an effective radiated power of 50 watts. Antenna height would be 70 metres.
The Miramichi transmitter was on the air by the end of the year.
Studios and offices were noted as being at 401 Main Street in Blackville.
On November 29, the CRTC renewed the licence for CJFY-FM Blackville and its transmitter CJFY-FM-1 Miramichi to August 31, 2014. This short-term renewal would enable the Commission to review at an earlier date the licensee's compliance with its conditions of licence and the Radio Regulations, 1986.
CJFY-FM-1 Miramichi moved from 101.1 to 96.5 MHz and increased power from 50 to 740 watts (2,000 watts maximum). It became CJFY-FM (formerly a rebroadcaster of Blackville) while CJFY-FM 107.7 Blackville (formerly the originating station) became Miramichi's rebroadcster as CJFY-FM-1.
