1974

Colonial Broadcasting System Ltd. was awarded a lcence for a new AM station at Clarenvile operating on 710 kHz with 10,000 watts day and night.

1975

CKVO opened as a semi-satellite of VOCM St. John's.

Colonial filed an application for the establishment of studios at Clarenville.

1982

Colonial Broadcasting System Ltd. was now also operating under the name Radio Newfoundland Ltd.

1995

By this time CKVO broadcast 40 hours of local programming per week with the remainder of its schedule originating with VOCM St. John's. Studios for CKVO were in the VOCM building in St. John’s.

1999

NewCap announced plans to buy all VOCM Radio Newfoundland Ltd. radio stations (VOCM-AM/Magic 97 St. John's, CKVO Clarenville, CHVO Carbonear, CHCM Marystown, CKGA Gander, CKCM Grand Falls/Windsor and CKIM Baie Verte). The deal would bring together two groups that had different audiences and mandates. 

2000

Newcap Broadcasting Ltd. purchased CKVO and the other VOCM stations.

2010

On May 28, the CRTC renewed the licence of CKVO until August 31, 2016.
