Natturaliit Youth Committee

On November 28, the CRTC approved the application by the Natturaliit Youth Committee for a broadcasting licence for a Native-language FM radio programming undertaking at Inukjuak on the frequency 97.9 MHz with an effective radiated power of 10 watts. The licence would expire on 31 August 1999. The new station would broadcast 35 hours per week of local programming exclusively in the Inuktitut language. Programming would be produced by and directed to young members of the Inuit community and deal with native culture and today's social issues.

CINY-FM began broadcasting.

Effective September 1st 2019, we will only be adding new material to these station histories in exceptional circumstances. Our intent to chronicle the early days of these radio and television stations has been achieved, and many new sources and technologies, from the
CRTC website to Wikipedia, and others, are now regularly providing new information in these areas.
