Buckley Petawabano launched aboriginal community station CINI-FM, operating on 95.3 MHz with power of 50,000 watts. The station served Mistissini and the Chibougamau and Chapais area of the James Bay region and offered Cree-language programming. CINI was the only local commercial FM station in the area.

Lake Mistissini Telecommunications Association took over operation of CINI-FM.

CINI-FM-1 Mistissini signed on the air at 102.1 MHz with power of 50 watts.
