On November 17, Télémédia Communications Inc. was awarded a licence for a new FM station at Trois-Rivieres. The station would offer a soft rock format and would be operated jointly with Télémédia's CHLN-AM. The CRTC did not approve the frequency of 94.7 MHz and effective radiated power of 100,000 watts because of the effect the station might have on neighbouring markets. Telemedia was told to make new technical arrangements which would reduce power in the direction of Thetford Mines, Victoriaville and Lac Megantic.

1990

CHEY-FM signed on.

1999

The corporate name changed from Telemedia Communications Inc. to Telemedia Radio Inc.

2001

The corporate name changed from Telemedia Radio Inc. to Télémédia Radio (Québec) inc.

2002

Astral Media Inc. purchased Telemedia’s stations in Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

2007

CHEY-FM received approval to increase average effective radiated power from 46,000 watts to 46,600 watts. Maximum ERP would remain 100,000 watts. Antenna height would increase from 246 metres to 249.7 metres. The antenna pattern would continue to be directional and there would be no change in transmitter site.

2011

On February 23, the CRTC approved the application to amend the licence for CHEY-FM in order to delete the condition of licence relating to the provision of annual reports on the diversity of musical selections.

CHEY-FM changed its branding from Rock Détente to Rouge FM. The format remained Adult Contemporary.

2013

On June 27, 2013, after a previous such application had been denied in 2012, the CRTC approved an application by Astral Media Inc. to sell its pay and specialty television channels, conventional television stations and radio stations to BCE Inc., including CHEY-FM.

2018

In June, CHEY changed format from Adult Contemporary to CHR but retained the Rouge 94.9 branding.
