On July 31, the CRTC approved an application by Salmo FM Radio Society for a broadcasting licence to operate an English-language, very low-power developmental community FM radio station in Salmo. The applicant indicated that the new station would offer an average of 60 hours of programming per broadcast week, of which eight hours would be devoted to talk show programming and 52 hours would be devoted to the broadcast of music from local and Canadian recording artists. The applicant stated that the programming would reflect the needs and interests of the community, including news and commentary on cultural, spiritual and political issues. The licence would expire 31 July 2011. The station would operate at 92.1 MHz (channel 221VLP) with an effective radiated power of 5 watts.

CFAD-FM began broadcasting on October 11.

2011

On August 1, the CRTC renewed the broadcasting licence for the developmental community FM radio programming undertaking CFAD-FM Salmo to July 31, 2012. This decision would allow the Salmo FM Radio Society to maintain the station's operation during the application process for a new community radio programming undertaking in Salmo.

2012

CFAD-FM moved from 92.1 to 91.1 MHz and increased effective radiated power from 5 watts to 60 watts.

2018

On January 3, CFAD ceased broadcasting. The licence was returned to the CRTC.
