CCF Credit for Contribution Arthur Zimmerman While professor of endocrine physiology at Queen's University, Arthur E. Zimmerman joined QueensRadio station CFRC and CFRC-FM as a broadcaster of classical music, interviewer and producer-engineer of documentaries, drama, lectures and "live" concerts. His award-winning 12-part radio series in celebration of the 60th anniversary of CFRC in 1982 eventually became "In the Shadow of the Shield", a thoroughly documented 657-page book. He also broadcast opera for a time over CFMX, Cobourg, compiled and read the news over CKWS, Kingston, did a 6-month stint as host-writer of "Mostly Music" on CBC in 1984 and was Program Director of CFRC and CFRC-FM, 1984-88. Dr. Zimmerman has produced commercial compact discs, has written liner notes for the Pearl and Mastersound labels, writes record reviews, journal articles on masny subjects and restores old sound recordings. He is currently researching and writing a major work on the early years of the Marconi radio stations XWA / CFCF in Montreal and CHCB, Toronto. |
